So I opened up a bank account at Wells Fargo today. Actually, my new wife and I opened up an account at Wells Fargo today. The process took a few hours, but the whole experience was enjoyable. In fact, after we left, I came straight home and put in an application for a teller position with that bank.
Of course, my friends and family all know how miserable I’ve been working my job in a grocery store. For the longest time, I’ve been working one shitty retail job after another. I won’t name the companies, but they were all grocery stores. My current employment hasn’t been so bad though. I’ve actually quite enjoyed myself in this current company, but it’s still not the kind of job I want to be doing for the rest of my life. I say: NO MORE SANDWICHES! Or dishes, I hate dishes.
So I’ve put in an application with Wells Fargo because my experience today has convinced me that they are the bee’s knees. Seriously. This branch was everything I want in a company: laid back and friendly, yet thorough and professional. Plus they get to wear suits.
Honestly though, It’s just the right environment for me. It’s the kind of job where you deal with money, information, and people. Mostly, I see this as an opportunity. An opportunity for me to do something I enjoy and help people in the process. An opportunity for me to use my people skills and my logical talents in a way that I don’t get to use them at my current employment. I’m going to college in order to create a better life for myself (and my wife), and I feel like this could be a great opportunity for me. Now I just have to pray that the big man upstairs looks out for me–oh, and bug the shit out of the manager out the branch near my house until he decides to give me a shot.
I believe in following your dreams, and especially in following your passions. If you want to do something, do it. If you want to chase after a dream, chase after it. I don’t mean that if you want to be a professional underwater basket-weaver, that you should quit your job and go jump in the ocean with some hemp or whatever they make baskets out of. What I mean is, in everything you do be smart and responsible about it, make sure to keep your priorities in mind. However, if you have a dream, don’t let that die, because dreams are meant to flourish. My dream right now, is to join the Wells Fargo Team (and of course, to write). So I’m going to work towards both those dreams.
And if you are reading this, it means that I am doing what I dream of, and you are helping my dreams to come true. So thank you for being a supportive audience, and feel free to share what your dreams are. I’d love to read them.
PS. I am super excited to manage funds for my wife and myself, and I can’t wait to see those numbers grow as we work together to build a life for ourselves. Hard Work, Smart Work, and Dedication; these are magical words.
